The PBRC will host a new panel on March 24th from 5pm to 6:30pm called "Social Resistance in Asia." Speakers include: Aries Arugay (University of the Philippines Diliman), discussing the paper, "Conditional Democrats? (Un)Civil Society-Led Resistance under a Diminished Democracy in the Philippines (2001-10)"; Ming Chee Anh (Lund University), discussing "Institutions and Social Mobilizations: The Chinese Education Movement in Malaysia (1951-2011)"; and Duyen Bui (University of Hawaii), discussing "Civil Society Actors Digitally Connect in Vietnam: Recoding Spheres of Resistance." The event will also include student discussants. JP Dimatulac and Erika Trinidad will review Dr. Arugay's paper, James Haynes will review Dr. Anh's paper, and Ted Nguyen will review Dr. Bui's paper.
